Don’t react to Ahmed’s rhetoric: Gautam Roy
SILCHAR, Dec 14: Excise Minister Gautam Roy had instructed both the units of Hailakandi and Karimganj units of the Congress to restrain themselves from criticising South Karimganj MLA Siddique Ahmed. It is to be noted that Ahmed had virtually waged a war against the Excise Minister a few months back. Roy has also told the district committees not to respond to any rhetoric of Ahmed, an associate member of the Congress Legislative Party said.
According to sources, Siddique, in the recent times, had warned people that he would paralyze normal life in Hailakandi and Karimganj following police atrocities on people who had raised voice against Roy’s autocracy. This had sparked protests from various organizations owing allegiance to Roy against Siddique, the sources added.
Some of the “anti-Siddique” organizations alleged that the recent dacoities in Hindu families were instigated by Ahmed and Roy had already brought the case of frequent dacoities in South Karimganj along the Bangladesh border to the notice of the Assam Chief Minister. The Southern range DIG has also, in the meantime, reportedly asked the Karimganj superintendent of police to furnish a report on the sudden rise of dacoity in the area. THE SENTINEL
