SILCHAR, Dec 5: One Himangshu Das, who was abducted at gunpoint last Tuesday from Lakhicherra stone quarry, came home last night. He was unhurt but exhausted.
Sources said Das is an employee of Udita Construction, which is owned by Excise Minister Gautam Roy’s private secretary Gautam Gupta. He was working in the stone quarry when some miscreants abducted Das at gun point.
On the other hand, sources close to Himangshu’s family as well as of Gautam Gupta himself denied the report that Das was released a huge amount of money was exchanged with the kidnappers.
It was reported that the abductors had initially demanded Rs 1 crore but later came down to Rs 25 lakh. Himangshu, however, told mediapersons that the abductors released him after he narrated the wretched condition of his family to them. THE SENTINEL
