ABVP conference to focus on Northeast

Silchar, Jan 6 : The two-day 13th Northeast State Conference will begin from January 7 at Union High School, Fulertal, Lakhipur. The Conference will be attended by about 250 delegates from different parts of the region. Informing this, RP Thakur, president, ABVP Lakhipur unit, said that the first day of the conference would take into account reports of the delegates of seven States on problems confronting the students community as a whole and matters of regional and national concern. In particular, he added that the security scenario, influx of Bangladeshis and the deteriorating academic values would be in focus for deliberations and indepth analysis for pragmatic approach of their resolution. Thakur pointed out that  the concluding day would make a threadbare discussion on the continuing threat-perception in Northeast due to the half hearted attitude of the Centre and the States in respect of the fencing of border and construction of roads. The problem of infiltration and the movement of terrorists and extremists continues to be of grave concern. Besides, academic matters will also find attention at the conclave. Prof GD Sharma, Pro Vice Chancellor of Assam University will inaugurate the conference . Atin Das, chief advisor of the Dainik Jugashankha  and Ramendra Bhattacharjee, Rashtrapati Award winner educationinst will also attend the conference. THE SENTINEL
