Dr. Amathesh Kumar released on bail

Silchar, January 6: In a hush-hush manner, police arrested Dr. Amathesh Kumar and later released him on bail. Dr. Kumar, a junior doctor, faced the allegations of beating the relatives of a child who died due to lack of treatment as well as manhandling  of a photographer of a local channel. Two different Journalist Associations demanded the arrest of Dr. Kumar and one security guard of Silchar Medical College and Hospital who also allegedly had beaten up the photographer. According to sources ,DSP Ashok Saha managed the arrest- and -bail of the doctor at the instructions of SP P.K. Bhuyan who was then at Guwahati keeping the Additional SP Jayanta Choudhury and OC SK Chauhan in complete darkness. Both Choudhury and Chauhan categorically told the media persons that Dr. Kumar had not been arrested. Interestingly, Dr. Kumar had also field an FIR  but the police did not respond to his FIR. Vice principal of SMCH Dr. Sekhar Chakraborty was the bailor of Dr. Kumar.  THE SENTINEL
