All Assam Tribal Sangh, All Assam Rongmei Naga Students’ Union, Kaguiluang Development Society and Nagasunluang

SILCHAR, Jan 16: Members of the All Assam Tribal Sangh, All Assam Rongmei Naga Students’ Union, Kaguiluang Development Society and Nagasunluang have offered their help to 36 Naga families of Railway Station Colony who lost everything including their residential houses and all the properties in a devastating fire that broke out in the wee hours of Wednesday. The intensity of the fire, the cause of which could not be known, was so deep that within a short time the entire colony inhabited by Nagas was engulfed and reduced to ashes.

Fire tenders from nearby Tarapur of this town joined by that of ONGC and Air Force tried their best to douse the flames, but failed to control the blaze. The damages and losses suffered by the tribal families are estimated around Rs 42 lakh.

The tribal bodies from their own resources and through donations collected from people in general helped the victims with taurpalins, rugs, bedding, food items, warm clothes and other necessary materials for their immediate relief. THE SENTINEL
