Fatal bike accident claims life in Lakhipur

SILCHAR, Jan 3: It was a fatal bike ride for two youths identified as Amir Khan (20) and Abdul Salam (19) who on their way from Banskandi to Pailapool on National Highway 53 met with tragic accident when their fast-moving two wheeler dashed against the steel girder of a bridge at Tarapore under Lakhipur police station, 20 km from here, around 3.30 pm yesterday. While Amir Khan under the impact of the collision with the bridge railing died on the way to Lamina Hospital, pillion rider Abdul Salam was seriously injured and after being admitted in the nearby Lamina Hospital was rushed to Silchar Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated. Both of them hail from the village of Moragaon.

A police team from Banskandi outpost and Lakhipur police station reached the spot of accident. The motorcycle the youths were riding on fell into the dried river channel after colliding with the bridge. THE SENTINEL
