Silchar Film festival inaugurated

Silchar, Jan 6: Noted actor Sabyasachi Chakraborty today inaugurated the Silchar Film festival organized by Beekshan Cine Commune.‘Tintoretor Jishu’, directed by Sandip Roy in which Chakraborty played the   role  of ‘Feluda’, a  much acclaimed detective character of Satyajit Roy,was shown on the opening day. Later, Chakraborty joined  a chat,suitably named ‘Feludar Sanga Adda’ after the show. The five day long festival, being held at District Library auditorium, would also show critically acclaimed films like ‘Firaq’ by Nandita Das, ‘Kalpurush’ by Budhadeb Dasgupta, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’by Daniel Boyle , ‘Chaturanga’ by Suman Mukhopadhyay, ‘Tare Zamin Par’ by Amir Khan, ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’ by Nishikant Kamat, and all time classics like ‘Bi-Cycle Thives’ by Vittorio De Sica, ‘Father’ by Mazid Mazidi. Apart from  the shows, open quiz, talk show and debate competition would also be held during the festival. THE SENTINEL
