United Bank of India (UBI) tinaugurated a training institute

Self-employment training institute set up by UBI

SILCHAR, Jan 1: A rural self-employment training institute of the United Bank of India (UBI) was inaugurated at Sunlit Building near the National Highway in Silchar on Wednesday.

Addressing the assembly of bank officials, employees and others, MLA Bithika Dev, as a guest of honour, appreciated the initiative taken by the bank. She expressed her hope that the centre would help the BPL families with loans on easy terms. She said that with the implementation of various Central Government schemes and projects by the State Government, the target groups were immensely benefited and there was significant improvement in their standard of living.

Cachar Deputy Commissioner Gautam Ganguli, who also attended the function as a guest of honour, lauded the noble effort of the UBI and hoped that more such training institutes would come up in the future.

Presiding over the function, Ajit Kumar Sen, DGM of UBI Cachar zone, said of the targeted 12 institutes, four have already been set up. The Silchar centre was the first of its kind in Assam, he pointed out. People living below the poverty line would be given free training in the institute in various schemes and projects. Other bank officials were also present on the occasion. At the outset, Manoj Biswas, director of the institute, explained the objectives of the training centre. THE SENTINEL
