NEW DELHI, May 1: Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Vilasrao Deshmukh has assured to Silchar MP Kabindra Purkayastha that the situation of Cachar Paper Mill will improve very shortly and regular production also.
Regarding the production of Cachar Paper Mill has been reportedly stalled, Silchar MP Kabindra Purkayastha met the Union Minister of Heavy Industry in the Parliament House. In the meeting Union Minister Deshmukh assured the Silchar MP and said, “I am going to call up all responsible officers of this mill very shortly. If I find any negligence between the official then strict action will be taken.”
Union Minister also said that the he will instruct the mill authority to resume the production as early as possible.
Due to shrinking market of the Cachar Paper Mill’s finished products, former Union Minister Kabindra Purkayastha informed the Union Minister Deshmukh that “As per information the operation of the Mill has been suspended since April 7 due to failure of selling off the finished product. This is also the case with Nagaon Paper Mill, Jagiroad. This has created panic amongst the employees of the Hindustan Paper Corporation.”
It is also learnt that several high officials of the Department of Finance and Marketing have been placed under suspension which paralyzed the marketing side of the Mills. It is a fact that corrupt persons should be punished but the usual work should not be disturbed. THE SENTINEL
