GUWAHATI, Feb 16 – Silchar District Sports Association advanced into the quarterfinal stage of the Bud Challenge Cricket Meet with a convincing five-wicket victory against Tinsukia Railway Divisional Sports Association at the Nehru Stadium here today. It was a well-contested match as the Tinsukia team set a challenging target of 183 in 40 overs for the Silchar outfit, which they attained in the 37.3 overs losing five wickets.
Musarab Hussain Laskar was the hero of the day as he scored a dashing 79 which virtually made the task easy for the Silchar team while chasing the target set by the Tinsukia outfit.
Brief scores: Tinsukia Rly 182/7 (Bimal Goswami 42, Suraj Dutta 22, Salim Ahmed 28, Santosh Das 2/23). Silchar 184/5 (Musarab H Laskar 79, Raju Das 27, Biswajit Bhatta 24, Dipankar Banerjee 3/17).
