Advani as PM can tackle influx: Uma Bharati, Guwahati Lok Sabha Election

Guwahati Lok Sabha Election
GUWAHATI, April 13: Bharatiya Janashakti Party president and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Uma Bharati today said infiltration is a major problem that should be accorded more priority than Ram Temple and Ram Setu, and this problem can be solved only if LK Advani becomes the Prime Minister of the country.

Talking to newsmen in Guwahati today, Bharati said her party has lent unconditional support to LK Advani as prime ministerial candidate. “We will not demand any seat in return to our support to Advani,” she said, and added: “If Advani becomes the Prime Minister, Ram Temple, Ram Setu and solution to infiltration will be a reality. For the construction of Ram Temple, I will work wholeheartedly. We will put pressure on the government that will be at the Centre to find out solutions to the problems of infiltration, Ram Temple and Ram Setu.”

The former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister said: “America and Canada are bigger than India geographically, but illegal immigration isn’t taking place there. Even if anybody enters those countries illegally, he will be caught soon as the monitoring mechanism is very strong there. On the contrary, in India there are crores of illegal immigrants who trigger blasts and create law-and-order problems, so we need a tougher law to tackle illegal immigration effectively.”

Bharati did create a confusion among the newsmen by demanding abrogation of the IM(DT) Act. The situation was, however, effectively tackled by BJP leaders SS Ahluwalia and Bijoy Gupta who accompanied her in the press meet. Later Bharati admitted her mistake and said not keeping in touch with Asom for a long time is the reason behind her ignorance about the latest status of the IM(DT) Act.

When asked if she will stage a comeback to the BJP, she refused to respond.
Asom BJP leader Bijoy Gupta, who was also present at the press meet, said that the Janashakti Party chief would address election rallies today at Jagiroad at 2 pm, at Lalganesh in Guwahati at 5 pm and at Jail Road in Fancy Bazar in Guwahati at 7.30 pm. Tomorrow she will address rallies at 11 am at Kharupetia in Mangaldai and 5.30 pm at Pandu in Guwahati. THE SENTINEL
