Massive rigging by Congress, says AGP

GUWAHATI, April 17: Alleging massive rigging by the Congress in the first phase of Lok Sabha polls yesterday, AGP president Chandra Mohan Patowary today said that his party would request the Election Commission of India to deploy adequate number of security personnel in each and every polling station during the next phase of elections in the State on April 23.

Talking to The Sentinel, Patowary said: "Actually the Congress has lost the faith of the people, and it has been proved by the erosion of traditional Congress vote bank in the Barak Valley and the two hill districts yesterday. Stung by the ‘debacle’ in the Barak Valley, the ruling party will be desperate to rig polls in a massive way in the next phase on April 23. So, we will move the Commission for deployment of adequate number of security forces in the State on April 23."

The AGP president today addressed election rallies at Patcharkuchi, Bijni and Sarupeta in support of AGP candidate from Barpeta. In all the rallies, he criticized the Congress for misleading the voters on development. Patowary will campaign in upper Asom tomorrow. THE SENTINEL
