Arrangement for counting in Hailakandi

HAILAKANDI, May 15: The district election machinery has made elaborate arrangements for counting votes in the three Assembly segments––Hailakandi, Katlicherra and Algapur under Karimganj Lok Sabha constituency here at BB College on May 16.

Election observer Appaji Tukaram Kookbher had a long sitting with Deputy Commissioner TC Goswami, Superintendent of police Vivekanda Das alongwith other top officials and discussed the pross and cons of the affairs. Later, Deputy Commissioner told that all arrangements have been made for smooth running of counting votes with strict security measures.

Para Military forces would be deployed in and around the counting centre to check any untoward incident immediately. However, he hoped that the counting would be over peacefully and he also requested all political parties and candidates to maintain peace every where.

TINSUKIA: The Tinsukia District Administration has meanwhile completed all the necessary preparations for holding the Loksabha poll counting process tommorow at the Womens’ ITI situated at Borguri, Tinsukia. Counting of the two assembly segments of Dibrugarh HPC, Tinsukia and Digboi and for DoomDooma LAC under Lakhimpur HPC will take place tomorrow.

The counting for Sadiya under Lakhimpur HPC and Margherita LAC under Dibrugarh HPC will be held at Chapakhowa and Margherita respectively. At a press meet, the Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner Dr KK Dwivedy said that the counting will start at 8 am and the total counting will take place in 11 rounds. In each round, 14 polling station’s EVM counting will be held. In the Tinsukia counting station, at the Womens’ ITI, 14 tables have been set up for the counting process.

After the end of every round, progress of each candidate will be informed from the counting centre through loud speakers to the general public. A media cell has also been set up at the counting centres. The counting process will be completed nearly within four to five hours, said the DC. It may be mentioned that during the counting process, as per requirement, result and progress of the candidates in other counting station of the two constituencies will be informed.
Every information of counting process will be sent to both the state and central election commission through internet. The final overall result of Dibrugarh HPC will be declared officially at Dibrugarh and for Lakhimpur HPC at Lakhimpur by the respective district election officer. Security measures for the day of counting at the Womens’ ITI has been beefed up. One company of CRPF has also been engaged said the DC and said the counting process in Tinsukia is likely to be over by 2 pm. 300 officials have been engaged in the entire counting process.
