Personnel deployed to ensure smooth construction works

SILCHAR, July 24: To ensure speedy progress in the NC Hills which has been affected by the ongoing onslaught of the ultras on the construction site, the Asom Government has deployed special police personnel in the district. Police officers appointed on the job are 1,712 in number. Out of them 929 will work for Mahashark and 783 officers will safeguard the interest of broad gauge line in the NC Hills district. Among the special police officers appointed for Mahasharak security, 392 comprise ex-army officials and 537 comprises armed home guards. On the other hand, special police officials engaged for broad gauge construction works comprise 490 ex-army officials and 293 armed home guards. Mason Zeliang blames Dimasa militant chiefs for recent massacres

SILCHAR, July 24: In a press release issued by Mason Zeliang, chief co-ordinator of the Citizen Rights Protection Volunteers (CRPV) yesterday strongly condemned Dilip Nunisa, chairman of the pro-talk faction of Dimasa militant outfit DHD for his baseless allegation that the Naga militant outfit NSCN (K) is involved in the recent ethnic clash in NC Hills. Sources claimed that Mason Zeliang made this statement during his visit to 3 make-shift refugee camps of the Dimasas at Kumarcherra, Doloicherra and Joipur Shibasthan in Cachar recently. Mason made it clear that the CRPV received no help from any of the NSCN factions. According to him, it was the DHD factions one led by Dilip Nunisa and his rival faction led by Jewel Garlosa which led to the Dimasa massacre, sources informed. SOURCe: THE SENTINEL

Training programme for poll workers
SILCHAR, July 24: Sources informed that a workshop is being organized on July 25 in Silchar to ensue successful municipality election. The workshop is being organized to train the poll workers for smooth functioning of the electioneering process on July 31 at Silchar. The venue of workshop is Silchar District Library Auditorium.
