SILCHAR, Aug 10: Under 32 cooperative societies and Silchar wholesale cooperative public distribution system (PDS), 8,100 quintals of sugar have been allotted to Silchar subdivision for the month of August.
Sources said the sugar will be available at all fair-price shops. Sugar was not available here since last February as the Union Food and Civil Supply division had insufficient stocks of sugar. Currently, the Union Food and Civil supplies is having a reserve stock of 13,660 quintals of sugar and, therefore, 60 per cent from the reserve stock has been allotted for public distribution system in Silchar subdivision.
