Silchar, Aug 2: The counting of votes for the recently conducted civic polls in Silchar will be held on Tuesday, August 4 in the Inter-State Truck Terminus (ISTT) at Ramnagar in Silchar.
The counting will start from 8 am in seven different rooms of the ISTT. The first and the second rooms are situated on the ground floor, and the remaining five rooms are on the first floor of the ISTT building.
The District administration has adopted certain measures to ensure the smooth conduct of the counting process. According to official sources, the counting will be conducted in several phases on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, under the leadership of MP Kabindra Purkayastha, a representative unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party recenty met Cachar Deputy Commissioner Gautam Ganguly and demanded simultaneous counting of votes for all the 28 wards of Silchar municipal constituency.
They stated that such a step would reduce the counting hours. Ganguly assured he would take a final decision on the concerned matter after a all-party meeting today.
Counting of votes will be conducted in ISTT in the following manner

Hall 1: Ward 1 / Hall 2: Ward 18 / Hall 3: Ward 2
Hall 4: Ward 9 / Hall 5: Ward 4 / Hall 6: Ward 6
