SILCHAR, Aug 2: The National Highway 53 that starts from Chirukandi point to Don Bosco School point in the Cachar district will remain closed on August 4, the scheduled date for counting of votes for the recently held municipality election. This was announced by the Cachar district administration today.
The counting for the Silchar municipality board election will take place at the Ramnagar ISTT. The counting will take place between 8 am to 5 pm. The NH53 will remain closed till the counting is over. All kind of traffic or vehicular movement on the road will be prohibited.
Meanwhile, the long distance vehicles from Silchar will take the route from Tarapur E & D colony via Ranighat towards respective destinations. Vehicles approaching Silchar will take the Kalain route via Ranighat to Tarapur E & D colony, added district officials. THE SENTINEL
