SILCHAR, Aug 12: With Congress emerging a winner in the recently held municipality elections in Silchar, mud slinging between the Congress and BJP has once again surfaced.
Sources said the Congress alleged BJP MP Kabindra Purkayastha’s son Kanad of collecting money from the public for the civic body polls.
In a press meet held yesterday, Congress leaders said that the BJP earlier targeted Santosh Mohan Dev alleging him of running family rule in the party.
SM Dev, his MLA wife Bithika Dev and district president Karnendu Bhattacharjee, while speaking at the press meet, claimed that the Congress had not collected a single paise from the public for the municipality elections. They alleged that Kanad was compelled by BJP workers to admit that he had collected Rs 1 lakh from the public. THE SENTINEL
