Training for fish farmers held

SILCHAR, August 1: “If fish farming is done scientifically, it can boost the economy of Asom. But to make that happen, the fish farmers of the State must be adequately trained”. This is the opinion of different speakers who took part at the concluding session of seven-day training programme on fish farming held at Islamabad Fishery Training Centre near Bhagabazar on the outskirts of Silchar under the auspices of the Cachar District Rural Development Society. The programme that was held under the chairmanship of Singhajit Singh, a retired deputy director of fishery, concluded on Wednesday.

Documentary films on pisciculture and training were handed over to 40 fish farmers coming from different parts of Cachar district. Cachar District Fisheries Development Executive Umesh Chandra Kalita said the workshop and training programme on fish farming will benefit the fish growers of the district. He said Cachar has adequate infrastructure for fish farming. THE SENTINEL
