Dinesh Prasad Goala lays foundation stones of three roads

SILCHAR, Nov 22: State Urban Development Minister Dinesh Prasad Goala laid the foundation stones of three roads –– Dilkhush Ferry to Narayandahar via Monkoosh, Pabdi Tilka road and Alicherra and Shasthitala road –– in Lakhipur under the Prime Minister Gramin Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) on Saturday.

 A simple function was organized on the occasion at Ganga Dayal Community Hall. The function was presided over by SDO (civil) Baranya Das. Goala said, in the meeting, the roads when completed would provide better connectivity to the people of this remote and economically backward area and will help to improve their socio-economic condition.

He also pointed out that all the three roads would be completed by 2011 and sought cooperation of the people for early and smooth completion of the roads. The residents of the area, on the other hand, while expressing their gratitude to the Minister for taking the initiative to sanction funds for these roads for the development of the area, also submittd a memorandum to him demanding a police outpost, a fire brigade station and an ambulance in order to meet the long felt needs of the people.

The Minister assured the people that their demands would be meet soon. Others who were present on the function included PWD executive engineer Imran Hussain Chowdhury, SDO M Nath, and APCC members Shibu Kanungo and Chandra Shekhar Koiri. THE SENTINEL
