NBT book fair under way

SILCHAR, Nov 1: Eminent Bengali author Samaresh Majumdar inaugurated the first National Book Trust (NBT) Book Fair here at Narshing School-Government School playground yesterday. NBT has been organizing the Book Fair in association with Barak Upatyaka Banga Sahitya and Samskriti Sammelon and Cachar district administration.

The book fare will continue till November 8. Altogether 104 book stalls measuring 100 square feet each would cater to the needs of the readers in the next few days, stated Subir Dutta, the Northeast head of NBT. Dutta further said NBT publications in 32 languages will be available in this fair and leading publishing houses –– Ananda Publications, Patra Bharati etc. will participate in the book fair.

It was reported that Publishers and Book Sellers Guild, which organizes the Kolkata Book Fair as well as All Bengal Publishers Association would also participate in this book fair.

Publishers from Delhi, West Bengal, Assam, Tripura and Haryana had also opened stalls in the fair. THE SENTINEL

Army organizes free medical camp in Lakhipur

SILCHAR, Nov 1: Troops of the 11 Field Regiment of the Red Shield division of the Indian Army organized a free medical camp in coordination with the Lakhipur subdivision civil administration.

The medical camp was held at Chhota Mahanda Hindi ME and high school under Binnakandi development block recently.

Nearly 1,100 people from the near by villages –– Chhota Mahanda, Gosai Nagar, Laikol, Pabda and Puthikal–– attended the medical camp to get free medical treatment in the camp.

The 11 Field Regiment medical officer along with three civil medical specialists were present at the location to treat the patients. THE SENTINEL
