SILCHAR, Nov 11: A Hailakandi Munsif court today issued a warrant against Algapur MLA Rahul Roy for allegedly assaulting a youth Debabrata Paul, a student of SK Dey College, Katakhal. Paul recently lodged a complaint against Roy alleging that Roy had mercilessly beaten him at his house.
Based on this allegation, the Munsif court issued the warrant against the Algapur MLA, who is the son of State Excise Minister Gautam Roy.
It was reported that Rahul Roy along with Dhananjoy Deb, manager of Sarashpur TE and father of a girl with whom Debabrata reportedly had a love affair, Hemendra Deb and Gourango Das were summoned by the Court to be physically present at the Court on November 30.
Sources said Rahul Roy had called Debabrata at his Hailakandi residence on October 26 and cautioned him not to harass the daughter of Dhananjoy Deb. After that Roy allegedly started whipping Debabrata with his leather belt. Debabrata later, on November 6, lodged a written complaint with the Court against Roy. THE SENTINEL
