SILCHAR, Dec 6: The driver of a Maruti car, which was moving at high speed around mid-night on Saturday with its owner on the back seat, lost control just as it was approaching Rangirkhari water channel and veered off the road after dashing against some shops and fell down the culvert. The owner of the car Amitava Dhar is an officer with ICICI bank here. The car was moving from Tarapur to Link Road when the mishap took place.
Sources said Dhar was not injured in the accident but the driver of the car is absconding. Silchar police station investigating officer Santanu Das said a case would be registered against the driver for rash driving after he is traced out. He also added that the driver might have been dozing while driving. THE SENTINEL
