Trader apprehended

SILCHAR, Dec 2: On the basis of complaints filed by the Food and Civil Supply Department, Jayant Saha, owner of Ma Manasa Store of Ambicapatty, has been booked for selling inferior quality onions at Rs 35 per kg, which is beyond the prescribed price by the district administration.
The Foodgrains Merchants Association, it is to be recalled, has fixed the retail prices of onion at Rs 22 and Rs 29 per kg, according to their quality. But, consumers have been complaining against Saha for his profiteering motive by charging more than the prescribed price for grocery and foodgrains.

Civil Supply Department officials conducted a surprise raid to the shop of Saha and found the allegation of the consumers to be true. Saha was arrested by the police following an FIR lodged against him by the people. He was produced in the court yesterday. THE SENTINEL
