SILCHAR, April 6: Reacting sharply to Excise Minister Gautam Roy’s allegation that she was a failure as MLA, Bithika Dev today retorted that she did not need the certificate from a Minister who belonged to another district as the people of Silchar would judge her performance.
The Silchar MLA said she did not bother about what a Minister says about her performance. Speaking in a dharna organized by Sammilito Samskritik Mancha at Silchar Railway Station, Bithika Dev said, except for AUDF MLA Ataur Rahman Majharbhuiya and she, no MLA from Barak Valley including the Minister had ever raised the issue of renaming the Silchar Station, and it proves that they do not have any sentiment for the martyr.
Meanwhile, Cachar district Congress president Karnendu Bhattacharjee also criticized Gautam Roy for his comments about the Silchar MLA. Bhattacharjee said, Roy was not authorized to assess Dev’s performance as an MLA, it was the people of Silchar who would judge her performance. Rejecting Roy’s demand for a fresher in Silchar Assembly segment, Bhattacharjee said, only party high command had the authority to nominate candidate. THE SENTINEL
