IIT Guwahati

IIT Guwahati is the self-governing technology and engineering institute that is established by the Indian government for imparting higher education to the students aspiring to become future engineers and technical. Situated in the state of Assam, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is the sixth member of the IIT organization. 

Authoritatively, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is acknowledged as the Institute of National Importance by the Indian Government. This institute is also ranked as one of the top ten engineering institutes amongst the Indian Colleges offering distinct courses in engineering by the various educational surveys, some of the prominent ones being Dataquest and India Today.

The various courses that are offered for the aspiring students at the Indian Institute of technology Guwahati include Civil Engineering, Engineering Physics, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Chemical Science and Technology, Computer Science & Engineering, Engineering Physics Mathematics & Computing as well as Mechanical Engineering.

The huge campus of the IIT Guwahati is built on the 700 acre plot which is situated on the northern bank of the grand river Brahmaputra which is approximately 20 kilometers away from the city. With the magnificent river Brahmaputra at the one side, the institute offers a splendid view of open space as well as hills on the other side.

The students coming from the other areas for studying in IIT Guwahati do not have to worry about the residence as the IIT campus at Guwahati is complete residential campus. The Gymkahana Club has the aim of encouraging students to participate in the co-curricular as well as extra curricular activities. The hostels at the campus have single bed rooms along with the fundamental requirements that can include lounges, canteen, mess and most importantly the LAN connection that lets the students access wireless internet.

Besides studying, there are cultural festivals organized every year by the team work and co-operation of the students as well as the administration of the IIT Guwahati.
